This Week

This week has been a weird blend of super! productive! and total faffery (Netflix isn't going to watch itself, you know what I mean?).

I narrowed down my birth preferences (I had a chat with my UK hypnobirthing coach / doula friend and she told me birth plans are referred to as birth preferences there and it's just so British and polite I had to adopt it). I put them on an index card in bullet points and taped them to a giant box of chocolates. Who knows how this birth will go, or if any of my prefereces will be accommodated, but just the act of writing them out made me feel more prepared and less anxious.

I've not yet packed my hospital bag but will tackle it this week. Grady's birth was too long ago for me to remember if there was anything I forgot to bring so I'm doing some googling and hoping I remember everything important. Was there anything you wish you'd packed? I'm open to suggestions.

Grady and I went shopping and bought - and wrapped - Shawn's birthday present which makes me feel like the most prepared person on the planet (his birthday is the 15th).

Grady and I have spent a good portion of the week eating our way through the junk food pyramid. Having a preschooler while pregnant is kind of ridiculous. He says "doughnuts!" and then I can't think of anything else but doughnuts until I eat my fill. He's caught on and every day he has a new request (pizza? Pizza! Chocolate milk? Chocolate milk!).

The waiting game isn't fun but I'm trying to enjoy these last few days (weeks?) of calm before the storm.
