Friday Faff

It's Friday! Let's faff.

Yesterday morning was one of those mornings where nothing went right. Grady woke up crying and furious with me because he had a dream that he was drinking a Coke (dream on, sucka!) and I forgot it. I was already running behind and I was trying to get lunches made and his bag packed and then I had to logic my way out of offending my 4-year-old in his dream. IT WAS SOMEWHAT TIME CONSUMING. Anyway. This post on how to show up on time popped up in my Facebook feed this morning and it hit home (I was late for everything yesterday. Every damn thing.)

My friend Tairalyn has great style. I have never seen the woman look anything but impeccable, even when she's going for a casual look. She posted about Fall fashion today and I'm bookmarking it so I can pretend I'm a stylish lady too (or maybe I'll just beg her to take me shopping!)

Listen. I'm a gin drinker. I will occasionally venture off to the land of wine or other spirits but time is precious, life is short, and if I'm given a choice, I choose gin 99% of the time. With that being said, earlier this year I got to taste Okanagan Spirits' Laird of Fintry Single Malt Whisky (they can't call it Scotch because it's not made in Scotland. But it's Scotch.) I was shocked that I actually really enjoyed it. I deeply dislike smoky or peaty flavours so I tend to stay away from Scotch but this didn't have any of those flavours. It was rich and tasted like caramel. It's decadent. It's also produced in small batches and sold using a lottery system to keep things fair. The lottery is now open so head on over here and get your name in. The Laird of Fintry won the 2015 Gold World Spirits Award so it's kind of a big deal.

I'm new to "raw" cooking. I mean, I eat raw food all the time but I don't practice a raw food diet. If that makes sense. Anyway, the raw food people have loads of really interested desserts and I think I'm going to try some out this weekend. I love sweets and if I can find a way to make them a titch healthier? I'm down. This Raw Lemon Panna Cotta is first on my list.

How are you faffing this Friday?
