Tomato Soup Grilled Cheese Care Package

I show my love with food. If I love you, chances are I've cooked for you at some point. It's your birthday? Expect a cake. Going through a rough time? Cookies may show up on your doorstep. Celebrating happy news? Drinks and an over-the-top cheese plate it is. Just need a little extra love? Let's do pancakes. Food is my love language is what I'm saying.

I've been trying to think of the perfect care package and I think I've hit on the perfect combination. The tomato soup grilled cheese care package.

This Tomato Orange Soup was recommended in a Facebook Food Group I belong to and it's amazing. I double the recipe but keep the butter and salt at the single batch quantities and it's insanely delicious. It's also really easy to make (and it's even Grady-approved).

To make my tomato soup grilled cheese care package, I'd send the soup at the pre-cream stage with a carton of cream on the side (and a few quick notes on how to prepare). That way the soup can be thrown in the freezer if your care package recipient is overwhelmed with food. I'd include a loaf of nice bread, a block of butter, and some nice aged cheddar cheese. The beauty of this care package is it can easily be made into a complete meal or it can be broken down into staples if meals aren't required.

If you want to expand the package, why not send along some nice sausage or maybe some cut vegetables and fruit? Add a tray of brownies or a batch of chocolate chip cookies and you've got a nice, sweet finish.

The tomato soup grilled cheese care package is a lovely, easy way to show someone you're thinking of them and want them to feel loved and cared for. My favourite bread is sourdough just for reference ;)

Thirty Four

Yesterday was my thirty-fourth birthday which means I am now firmly planted in my mid-thirties. My morning started with Grady climbing into bed with me for a cuddle and Poppy spitting up on my hair. Hashtag: mom life.

I had an appointment at the cancer centre, which had me feeling all sorts of twisty feelings but turned out to be great because I got good news and don't have to go back for six months. It was a very nice birthday present indeed. Plus my parents met me there to take care of Poppy while I saw my oncologist and they took me out for an amazing pizza lunch after my appointment. It was a day full of wins.

Some of my favourite people brought some of my favourite food over for dinner and it was the perfect way to end a perfect birthday. I spent it with my family. I had messages and love from friends and family who are spread across the globe. I was gifted with sunshine, good health, and amazing people (and chocolate). I couldn't have asked for a better day.

Celebrating International Babywearing Week with Beluga Baby

Today is the last day of International Babywearing Week. I celebrate babywearing almost every day when I strap Poppy on to go for a walk, or make a meal, or just to calm her down when she's extra fussy, but I wanted to take a minute to send some serious love to one of the baby products that got me through the fussy newborn stage.

(This isn't a sponsored post. I'm not being compensated for this "review" though it does contain affiliate links. I just love the product because it helped me through an extremely rough stage of Poppy's babyhood.)

I wasn't aware of babywearing until Grady was about six months old and I jumped on the Moby bandwagon. I loved wearing Grady but I missed out on the newborn stage. I was determined to wear Poppy from day one but my Moby felt too large for a tiny baby. I did a bit of research and discovered Beluga Baby. It appealed to me on a local love level (it was started by a BC mama) but also because of its build. The Beluga Baby wrap is smaller / shorter than the Moby, and much more stretchy.

I love my Beluga Baby wrap and more importantly, so does Poppy. I started wearing her when she was a week old and I've continued to wear her (the Beluga Baby wrap is good for babies up to 25lbs). There's just something about the soft, stretchy material that cradles her body against mine; it doesn't matter how fussy or overtired she is, as soon as I wrap her against my chest she melts into me and falls asleep.

I've professed my love for Beluga Baby so much that the lovely mama who created it has given me a discount code to share: use twoLs at checkout (I'm not affiliated and I don't receive anything if you use this code, it's all about sharing the love, baby). I've got the Shannon but I have serious googly heart eyes over the Caitlyn (it's not weird to want two stretchy wraps, right? Someone please help me justify this purchase!).

Do you wear your baby? Do you like stretchy wraps, ring slings, or structured carriers?

Meal Plan 10/10/2016 - 10/14/2016

I think this may be the easiest meal plan I've ever done. I hesitate to even call it a plan because there's so little effort involved but here it is:

Monday: Thanksgiving leftovers.

Tuesday: homemade pizza served with green salad.

Wednesday: Happy birthday to ME! I don't know what we're doing for dinner, I just know I'm not cooking.

Thursday: Indian Spiced Cauliflower Soup served with green salad.

Friday: repeat of Thursday.

What's on your meal plan this week?
